Ok. Let me start by saying that Avenged Sevenfold isn’t exactly one of my favorite bands, but I have enjoyed a few of their songs (but mostly from their 2003 record Waking the Fallen…newer stuff’s kinda shitty). Here‘s what NOFX frontman Fat Mike had to say about them:
Asked for an example of what’s wrong with music today, Mike comes back with a very specific case in point: “Avenged Sevenfold is the epitome of what’s wrong with rock and roll. They support Bush. Support the Iraq War. Wouldn’t accept a drink ’cause they have to play the next day, but tell everyone they party. And play to a fucking DAT tape. However, a couple of them are decent poker players.”
Again, I am not an Avenged Sevenfold fan, but in my opinion NOFX is one of the most repetitive, unoriginal bands on the planet. As far as I’m concerned they release the same record every few years. On top of it, Fat Mike is the most arrogant prick/biggest moron I have ever seen. Who gives a damn if they support Bush and the Iraq War? Bush is gone now. And how the hell does that affect their music? And I also like how he’s knockin’ them for not drinking in the interest of playing a better show. Might wanna give that a try sometime Mike, maybe you won’t sound like shit.
For those who don’t know this guy was the genius behind 2004′s PunkVoter group which tried to get people to vote for John Kerry by flat out lying and saying the draft was coming back if Bush got re-elected. I’m not a fan of ol’ G. Dubya, but to me PunkVoter was about as good of an idea as Diddy’s “Vote or Die” campaign. As you can see it worked about as well. Fat Mike also likes to preach things like tolerance and acceptance but at the same time will make fun of bands like Underoath because they are Christians. Fat Mike and NOFX are what’s wrong with music today. And Avenged Sevenfold isn’t helping….record a better album.
So 50 Cent must have a new record coming out because he’s starting beef with Kanye again, and this time he even decided to include Lil’ Wayne. I guess whenever he has a new album coming out, he pulls out the charts for the past couple years and just picks on whatever hip hop artist sold more records than he did. This time there were two.
When Kanye released 808s & Heartbreak, he blogged that 50 Cent would love it, but on the radio 50 finally responded by saying the album was “an R&B record.” “I’m surprised he got away with it,” 50 said. “That album is supposed to be a brick.” 50 also mocked Kanye’s singing skills. 50 had equally harsh words for Lil Wayne, saying the Carter III rapper was a “junkie” and a “little baby.” “[Wayne] had a great album,” he said, “but he makes a lot of records and I think he’s gonna exhaust the public with his sound. He’s a talented artist, but if you put us in a space where we’re in competition, my consistency will break his neck.” Fiddy then dared — almost pleaded — for both rappers to respond, probably in an attempt to keep his name in the papers and blogs before Self Destruct is released.
I like how Fiddy’s criticizing Weezy for making too many records. It’s called “staying in the public eye”, Fiddy. You might wanna try it sometime. Maybe you’ll actually win the next time you try and publicly compete with another artist for record sales. Speaking of which…aren’t you supposed to have retired?

Katy Perry: Mega Bitch
Well THAT didn’t take very long. So I guess earlier this year Katy Perry was being interviewed and when asked to describe herself, said she was a “fatter version of Amy Winehouse” and a “skinnier version of Lily Allen.” Obviously, Lily Allen didn’t take too kindly to this remark and blasted Perry on Capital FM on Monday by calling her lyrics “crass”, criticizing her for not writing her own songs and saying that Perry was only signed to her label as an “American version of her.” When Perry was asked about this on a Fuse interview she immediately apologized and said, “I was just kind of joking and trying to be funny. I didn’t mean anything by it. Comedians are not necessarily to be taken super seriously.”
Yeah, except you’re NOT a comedian, Katy. You’re a Christian rock singer turned mediocre pop singer who doesn’t even write any of her own material. And I don’t know who you think you’re fooling by pretending to play a guitar on stage…we all know you couldn’t play guitar to save your life.
So, as promised, here is why I thought Katy Perry was a bitch before I heard about all this: I was on the first 3 weeks of Warped Tour this summer with my band and our record label. We were basically just selling CDs everyday. We were in Dallas and it was the end of the day for us and we were packing up our tent and loading stuff into our van. I was carrying a lot of heavy stuff with one of the other guys and as we approached the gate I noticed that it wasn’t open very far and that Katy Perry was sitting in the middle of the opening on a pink bicycle talking to someone who was there with the tour. I foolishly assume that by the time we get up to the gate Ms. Perry will have seen us carrying all of this heavy equipment and will back up a couple of inches so we can get through. Well, she sees alright. She glances over at us a couple of times even, but doesn’t move. Finally, after about a full minute of us just STANDING there staring at her dumb face, she finishes her conversation (which I’m sure was incredibly important) and moves out of the way. No apology for how long she took to get out of the way. Nothing. She actually kind of looked put out by the fact that we had to get through. I was blown away by how inconsiderate she was.
Katy Perry shouldn’t have even been on that tour. In the entire three week span, I can’t remember a single person telling me they were there to see Katy Perry. I would imagine she was only there to make sure boyfriend Travis McCoy (Gym Class Heroes) kept his “hands out the cookie jar” all summer.

Why are most of these douchebags wearing sunglasses? (Source: MTV)
So according to self-proclaimed rock gods Hinder, the new Guns N Roses is “too artsy” and “overproduced”.
So here’s my question….why did MTV ask them? Who cares what these idiots think? As evidenced by their piss-poor effort they call writing and playing music, they clearly wouldn’t know good music if it smacked the sunglasses off their faces.
These are the same guys that ripped on OK Go for giving a very impressively choreographed performance involving treadmills at the VMAs a few years back. You can read the trash talking they did about OK Go and screamo bands like Thursday here.
Someone needs to do something about the fact that these guys are, first of all, still making shitty music and second of all, still talking trash about people that make GOOD music.
