Once again Rock Band makes Guitar Hero look second-rate . Rock Band‘s answer to one of the worst video game ideas ever (Guitar Hero: Metallica) will be released on 9/9/09 and will feature none other than the Fab Four: The Beatles! This also marks the first time The Beatles’ music will be available in the digital realm.
What better way for Rock Band to give a big ol’ middle finger to Guitar Hero than to get a band for their game that:
a. Metallica couldn’t compete with if they tried
b. Has never made their music available digitally before
And check out the icing on the cake:
Giles Martin, son of longtime Beatles producer George Martin and co-producer of the Grammy Award-winning “LOVE” project with Cirque du Soleil, is serving as music producer for the Rock Band game
If you haven’t heard the “LOVE” record, I highly suggest going out and buying it. If none of this means anything to you, you’re hopeless. Burn all of your albums and never listen to music ever again.

Apparently the next release in the way-too-popular Guitar Hero video game series is going to be devoted to a specific band. Now you would assume that Neversoft/Activsion would realize that they are being destroyed by Rock Band and that they should pick a hot band that everyone likes right now in order to boost the game’s popularity, right? WRONG! The game is being centered around Metallica. This “comeback” by Metallica is confusing the hell out of me. This year Metallica released an album that was just as bad (if not, worse) than every album they have released since 1991. Yet, for some reason they are making year-end “best of” lists, being nominated for Grammys and now a video game is being created that is devoted to them.

Did Hinder and Nickelback coordinate this? If not, its a pretty funny coincidence that TWO shitty bands that sound eerily similar would make absolutely ridiculous statements on the same day. Not to mention statements that leave them this open to criticism.

One of the only "decent rock bands" out there...according to Chad Kroeger (Source: MTV)
Apparently Mr. Kroeger thinks we should boycott games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band because they are essentially ruining rock music and causing a lack of “decent rock bands.” You can read about it here
I personally have NO IDEA what he is talking about. I hear decent rock bands all the time. Well, except when I turn on the radio and hear bands like…oh I don’t know…NICKELBACK.
Chad Kroeger being concerned about the state of the music industry is like Hitler being concerned about the well-being of the Jewish people.
